Being Michelangelo in the Age of AI and Why Everyone's Been Asking the Wrong Question

The paper argues that domain literacy — deep knowledge of a field's vocabulary, history, logic and standards — is the decisive variable in AI-assisted work. Drawing on workforce research and historical analogies, it examines how the disappearance of junior roles is eroding the apprenticeship layer through which expertise has historically accumulated, with reference to the EU's DigComp, LifeComp and AI Competence frameworks.
